Thank you,
Jesse and Lesle
Installation of camera with transformer.
Not picture but installation of fan with heater and light in bathroom.
Having a carport/storage shed(16'X24') I needed to have the power line raised from pole to house(County Code).
They were prompt on the day of work. They noticed somethings that needed to be brought up to code. They explained what needed to be done, the way they were going to do it and the cost.
I noticed the pictures are not in order. SMUD disconnecting the power line, the electrician installing the raiser, SMUD connecting the power line to utility box.
What was to be expected was the wait for SMUD, the county and SMUD. In this kind of work you are on their schedule and not the other way around.
The electricians did their work on a timely basis.
I continue to call them for an electrical work and ethernet connection.
County inspector after passing inspection on footing and forms suggested that I have a ground rebar installed.
I contacted OldTown Electric Inc. who I had previously made arrangements to run a power line along with two cables for security cameras an Ethernet line to the storage shed part of the structure.
They were prompt, professional and courteous.
Circuit Replacement & Installation in Sacramento
Dedicated Circuit Installation
Every high-draw appliance in your home — EV charger, induction range, dryer, dishwasher, HVAC system, hot tub — needs its own dedicated circuit. Sharing circuits with other loads is one of the most common causes of tripped breakers and overheating in Sacramento homes. We install properly sized dedicated circuits with the correct wire gauge, breaker amperage, and outlet configuration for your specific appliance — no guesswork, no undersizing.

Circuit Breaker Replacement & Repair in Sacramento
A breaker that trips repeatedly, won’t reset, runs warm, or makes a buzzing or crackling sound is telling you something is wrong. We replace faulty, worn, or undersized breakers with correctly rated units — and we tell you honestly if the problem is the breaker itself or a deeper wiring or panel issue. No upselling, no unnecessary work.
AFCI & GFCI Circuit Upgrades
California’s NEC 2023 adoption requires Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) protection in most living areas and Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) protection in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoor spaces. If your Sacramento home was built or last wired before these requirements, you may be out of code — which matters during renovations, home sales, and insurance claims. We assess your current protection coverage and upgrade what’s needed, cleanly and efficiently.
Not sure if your home is AFCI/GFCI compliant? Call (916) 307-0990 or request a free assessment.
Wiring & Rewiring Services
Many Sacramento homes built in the 1960s and 1970s still have aluminum branch circuit wiring — a known fire risk that insurance companies increasingly flag and lenders require remediation on before closing. We replace aluminum branch wiring with modern copper conductors and install CO/ALR-rated devices where full rewiring isn’t practical. For older homes with knob-and-tube or deteriorated insulation, we assess the scope and give you a clear, honest picture of what needs to be done.
Circuit Installation for Home Additions & Remodels
Adding a room, finishing a garage, building out a home office, or installing a workshop? Any new living or working space needs properly permitted electrical circuits from the start — not an extension cord run through the wall. We work alongside your general contractor or directly with you to rough-in circuits, install outlets and switches, and bring the new space up to code before drywall goes up. Getting us in early avoids expensive change orders later.
Load Calculation & Panel Capacity Assessment
Before we install any new circuit, we verify your panel can handle the additional load safely. If your panel is already at or near capacity — common in Sacramento homes with original 100-amp service — we’ll let you know and discuss your options: a panel upgrade, a subpanel, or load management. We won’t install a circuit that creates a hazard just to close a job.
Smart Circuit & Energy Monitoring Integration
Whole-home energy monitors like Emporia or Sense connect at your panel and give you real-time circuit-level data on where your power is going. If you’re interested in understanding your energy usage or preparing for solar or battery storage, we can integrate monitoring during any circuit or panel work. We configure the hardware and walk you through the app before we leave.

Why Sacramento Homeowners Choose OldTown Electric for Circuit Work
- Licensed, Insured & Local. CA Lic. #1099728. We’re a Sacramento-based contractor — not a franchise — which means we know the city’s permit process, SMUD service territory requirements, and the specific wiring issues that show up in Sacramento’s older housing stock.
- We Pull the Permit on Every Job. Circuit installations in Sacramento require permits when new wiring is involved. We pull it, we schedule the inspection, and we make sure the work passes. No unpermitted wiring left in your walls.
- Written Estimates Before We Start. You get a flat-rate written quote before we touch anything. The number doesn’t change unless the scope changes — and if we find something unexpected, we tell you before we proceed, not after.
- Honest Assessments. If your problem is a $15 breaker swap, we’ll tell you. If your wiring needs more attention, we’ll show you exactly what and explain why. We don’t oversell — our reviews reflect that.
- One Crew, Start to Finish. The electrician who quotes your job is the one who does it. No subcontracting, no handoffs, no surprises on installation day.
- 4.9 Stars, 165+ Reviews. Most of our work comes from repeat customers and referrals. If something isn’t right after we leave, we come back and fix it — no runaround.

Our Recent Projects
A single dedicated circuit installation in Sacramento typically runs $200–$500, depending on the distance from your panel, whether conduit is required, and the amperage needed. AFCI or GFCI upgrades for individual circuits are generally $100–$250 per circuit. Full rewiring of a home is a larger project priced by square footage and scope — most Sacramento homes run $8,000–$20,000 for a complete rewire. The best way to get your number is a free on-site estimate — call (916) 307-0990 or → request one here.
Yes, in most cases. Any new circuit that involves running wire through walls, ceilings, or attic spaces requires an electrical permit in the City of Sacramento and Sacramento County. Simple device replacements — swapping an outlet or a breaker — typically don't. We'll tell you upfront whether your job requires a permit and handle the process if it does. Unpermitted wiring can cause problems during home sales and insurance claims, so we don't skip it.
If one breaker trips repeatedly only when a specific appliance is running, you likely need a dedicated circuit — the existing circuit is undersized for that load. If multiple breakers are tripping, you may have a panel capacity issue. If a single breaker trips regardless of what's on it, the breaker itself may be faulty. We diagnose the actual cause before recommending anything — call (916) 307-0990 and we'll walk you through what to check before you schedule a visit.
Most homes built after 2000 have some AFCI and GFCI protection, but requirements have expanded significantly under NEC 2014, 2017, and 2023 — which California has adopted on a rolling basis. If your home was built or last fully wired before 2000, there's a good chance some areas don't meet current code. This matters most during renovations (inspectors check), home sales (buyers' inspectors flag it), and insurance renewals (some carriers now require it). We'll assess your home's current protection during any estimate visit at no extra charge.
A single dedicated circuit typically takes 2–4 hours. Multiple circuits in the same visit can usually be completed in a full day. Rewiring projects are scoped per-home and scheduled accordingly — we'll give you a realistic timeline during your estimate. To get started, call (916) 307-0990 or → request a free estimate here.
