Thank you,
Jesse and Lesle
Installation of camera with transformer.
Not picture but installation of fan with heater and light in bathroom.
Having a carport/storage shed(16'X24') I needed to have the power line raised from pole to house(County Code).
They were prompt on the day of work. They noticed somethings that needed to be brought up to code. They explained what needed to be done, the way they were going to do it and the cost.
I noticed the pictures are not in order. SMUD disconnecting the power line, the electrician installing the raiser, SMUD connecting the power line to utility box.
What was to be expected was the wait for SMUD, the county and SMUD. In this kind of work you are on their schedule and not the other way around.
The electricians did their work on a timely basis.
I continue to call them for an electrical work and ethernet connection.
County inspector after passing inspection on footing and forms suggested that I have a ground rebar installed.
I contacted OldTown Electric Inc. who I had previously made arrangements to run a power line along with two cables for security cameras an Ethernet line to the storage shed part of the structure.
They were prompt, professional and courteous.
Commercial Electrical Services in Citrus Heights
Commercial Electrical Services in Citrus Heights
We provide a full range of commercial electrical services for businesses and property owners in Citrus Heights. Whether you’re building out a new tenant space, upgrading aging infrastructure, or adding EV charging to your parking lot, our team has the experience and licensing to get it done right. For a full overview of our commercial capabilities, visit our Sacramento Commercial Electrical Contractors page, or explore all services available through our Citrus Heights Electrician hub.
Tenant Improvement (T.I.) Electrical
When a new tenant moves in or an existing space is being reconfigured, the electrical system often needs to be rebuilt from scratch. Our team handles the full T.I. electrical scope — panel feeds, branch circuits, outlet placement, lighting layout, and coordination with HVAC and data cabling contractors. We work from your plans or can help develop a scope if you’re in the early stages of buildout. Every T.I. project is permitted, inspected, and built to California Electrical Code standards.
Commercial Panel Upgrades & Service Upgrades
Older commercial buildings in Citrus Heights often run on panels that were sized for a fraction of today’s electrical loads. If your business is experiencing tripped breakers, limited capacity for new equipment, or failing to meet code during a renovation, a panel upgrade is likely the right move. We install modern 200A, 400A, and larger switchgear-rated panels sized to your actual demand, and we coordinate directly with SMUD for service upgrade requirements.
Commercial Wiring & Electrical Rough-In
New construction and shell-to-buildout projects require precise rough-in work — the wiring that gets buried in walls and ceilings before drywall goes up. Mistakes at this stage are expensive to fix later. Our commercial electricians work from engineered drawings and coordinate with your general contractor to keep the project on schedule. We’ve completed rough-in work for office buildings, retail spaces, restaurants, and warehouses across the Citrus Heights area.
Commercial Lighting Installation & Retrofit
Proper commercial lighting improves safety, reduces energy costs, and creates a better environment for employees and customers. We handle full lighting installations for new buildouts and LED retrofit projects for existing facilities. This includes parking lot lighting, warehouse high-bays, office troffer replacement, and emergency/exit lighting systems — all installed to Title 24 energy code compliance.
EV Charging Station Installation
Commercial EV charging is quickly becoming a tenant expectation and a business amenity that attracts customers and employees alike. Old Town Electric installs Level 2 and DC fast chargers for office parks, retail centers, restaurants, and multi-unit commercial properties throughout Citrus Heights. We handle panel capacity assessment, conduit runs, charger mounting, and SMUD interconnection — start to finish.
Commercial Generator & Backup Power
Power outages cost businesses real money. We install standby generators and transfer switches for commercial facilities that can’t afford downtime — medical offices, data closets, restaurants with walk-in coolers, and more. Our team sizes the system to your critical loads and handles all permitting and utility coordination required in Sacramento County.
Low-Voltage & Data Infrastructure
Modern commercial spaces need more than power — they need structured cabling, network infrastructure, and access control wiring. We install low-voltage systems including Cat6 data runs, access control conduit, security camera wiring, and intercom systems, coordinating with your IT and security vendors to ensure everything integrates cleanly.
Why Citrus Heights Businesses Choose Old Town Electric
- We pull every permit. Some contractors cut corners on commercial permits to save time. We don’t. Every project we complete in Citrus Heights goes through the proper permitting process with Sacramento County or the City, so your work is fully legal, inspected, and insurable. That protects you, your tenants, and your property.
- We work on your timeline. Commercial projects have hard deadlines — lease commencement dates, grand openings, and GC schedules don’t move because of an electrician. We show up when we say we will, communicate proactively if anything changes, and build our scopes around your project schedule.
- Transparent pricing, no surprises. Before we start any commercial job, you receive a clear written estimate. We don’t pad change orders or inflate material costs. If scope changes during construction, we discuss it with you before proceeding — not after.
- One licensed team, not a revolving door. We’re a family-owned business with a consistent crew of licensed electricians who have worked together for years. You’re not getting a different subcontractor every week — you’re getting the same professional team through the life of your project.
- Deep familiarity with Sacramento County requirements. Code requirements, permit processes, and SMUD coordination in the Sacramento region have their own nuances. Our team knows the local inspectors, understands what gets flagged, and builds work that passes on the first inspection — saving you time and money.

Commercial Electrical Permits in Citrus Heights — What You Need to Know
Citrus Heights falls within Sacramento County jurisdiction for most permitting purposes, with some areas subject to City of Citrus Heights municipal requirements. Either way, commercial electrical work — including panel upgrades, tenant improvements, new wiring, and EV charger installations — requires a permit and inspection before the work is considered code-compliant and legal.
Why Permits Matter for Your Business
Unpermitted commercial electrical work creates serious liability. If your building has a fire, an insurance claim can be denied if work was done without permits. If you sell the property or go through a lease renewal inspection, unpermitted work will surface — and the cost to bring it into compliance after the fact is almost always higher than doing it right the first time. Old Town Electric pulls all permits on your behalf. You don’t have to manage that process — we handle it as part of every job.
California Title 24 Compliance
Commercial lighting installations and major electrical retrofits in California must comply with Title 24 energy efficiency standards. Our team designs and installs lighting systems that meet Title 24 requirements out of the gate, so your project doesn’t get held up at inspection or require costly redesign.
SMUD Coordination for Service Upgrades
If your project involves a service upgrade — adding capacity from the street — we coordinate directly with SMUD on the utility side. This includes meter socket upgrades, service entrance work, and any rebate programs your project may qualify for. SMUD offers commercial rebates for certain panel upgrades and EV charger installations, and we’ll make sure you’re aware of what’s available.
Frequently Asked Questions — Commercial Electrical Contractors in Citrus Heights
Is Old Town Electric licensed to do commercial electrical work in California?
Yes. Old Town Electric Inc. holds California Contractors License #1099728 and is fully licensed and insured for commercial electrical contracting throughout Sacramento County, including Citrus Heights. Our license covers the full scope of commercial electrical work — from tenant improvements and panel upgrades to new construction wiring and EV charging station installation. You can verify our license status at any time through the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) at www.cslb.ca.gov.
What types of commercial properties do you work on?
We work on a wide range of commercial property types in Citrus Heights and the surrounding Sacramento region. This includes office buildings, retail centers, restaurants and food service facilities, warehouses and distribution facilities, medical and dental offices, multi-tenant commercial buildings, and properties undergoing tenant improvement buildouts. We also serve general contractors and property managers who need a reliable electrical subcontractor for ongoing commercial projects.
How long does a typical commercial electrical project take?
Timeline depends heavily on project scope. A straightforward commercial panel upgrade might take one to two days. A tenant improvement electrical scope for a 2,000–5,000 sq ft office suite typically runs one to three weeks depending on plan complexity, permit turnaround, and coordination with other trades. Larger new construction or multi-suite projects are scheduled accordingly. We provide a realistic timeline estimate during our initial consultation and communicate proactively if anything on the project affects that schedule.
Do you work directly with general contractors and property managers?
Absolutely — a significant portion of our commercial work comes from GCs and property managers who need a dependable electrical subcontractor. We’re experienced working from engineered drawings, coordinating with other subs, attending job site meetings, and delivering the documentation general contractors need for project closeout. If you manage commercial properties in Citrus Heights or the Sacramento area and need a go-to electrical contractor, we’d welcome the conversation.
How do I get a quote for my commercial project?
The easiest way is to call us directly at (916) 307-0990 — we can discuss your project scope over the phone and schedule a site visit if needed. You can also submit a project inquiry through our website and we’ll follow up within one business day.
